I’ve always loved checking out that latest Nervous System products, based on complex algorithms found in nature. They describe themselves as “… a design studio that works at the intersection of science, art, and technology. We create using a novel process that employs computer simulation to generate designs and digital fabrication to realize products. Drawing inspiration from natural phenomena, we write computer programs mimicking processes and patterns found in nature and use those programs to create unique and affordable art, jewelry, and housewares.”
I recently took some photos while I was on Hornby Island, BC, and I couldn’t help but notice how cellular some of the rock formations looked. A few days later I stumbled upon Nervous System’s Cell Cycle Jewelry line. Perhaps that is why I am so drawn to their work; it’s completely inspired by nature.
Above is their product on the left, and my photo on the right.
