FITC Toronto 2009

This was my second year at FITC, and it was a great time! FITC is a design and technology event which aims to inspire, educate and challenge.
What I like about attending FITC is that it forces me to be a bit out of my element. I am surrounded by people who are experimenting with Flash, Interactivity, Motion Graphics, and more. There were a few sessions that blew my mind, and there were a few that were rather mediocre. But all in all, it was a ton of fun, and so great to get a peek into the lives of some seriously creative people
Some of the conference highlights for me:
- Art, Gesture, Computation, Framework, Golan Levin, Zachary Lieberman (WOW, is all I can say…)
- The Tinkerer’s Box, Mario Klingemann
- Dame Judy Dench Could Kick My Mothers Ass™, MK12
- In Between the Frames, Ron Gervais, Mike McDougall
- Seeing Sound, Jared Ficklin
- The Things I’ve Learned About Being Creative, Mikey Richardson
What did I take away from the conference?
- I was seriously inspired
- I became much more aware of my own “brand”
- Some of the strongest solutions tend to be the simplest
I’ll definitely go again next year, but next time I intend to see more of a balance between the technical, creative, business and panel sessions, as this year was very creative-heavy.
