I have a 4 week vacation which starts at midnight tonight, and I have been working frantically to tie up loose ends before I leave. I don’t have a laptop, so I won’t be bringing work with me.
I have a 2 night stopover in Hong Kong, and then I am off to Bangkok, where I’ll get to meet up with an incredible client of mine, Jennifer Marie Robertson, a raw food chef. I recently helped her launch her new website, de-hydrated.com. She has graciously agreed to let us crash at her place while we sort out our route! From there we will visit Chiang Mai, and then on to the beaches in the south, where I will hopefully get to meet up with Cody of Thrilling Heroics. Somewhere in there, there will be a a few days in Cambodia.
This is my first trip to Asia, and, gulp… my first vacation in roughly 3 years.
In the months leading up to this vacation, I let my work/life balance slip dangerously out of control, thinking that I could keep up with the rigorous pace. (All-nighters are for university, right??) Some projects grew in scope, while some I should never have taken on in the first place (not knowing my limits). I struggled to balance everything that I had on my plate unsuccessfully, and I disappointed many people in the process.
The entire experience of hitting rock bottom this past month in preparation for my departure has been a real wake up call. I never realized just HOW crucially important it is to take time and to reset.
When I return, I’ll have a few days to recover from the jetlag before heading off to Marie Forleo’s Rich Happy & Hot Live conference in New York. (I redesigned and redeveloped the conference website for her, and it was a total blast!)
If you are in New York between October 20-25th and want to meet up, please email me, or message me on Twitter!
Hopefully, Marie’s conference is just what I’ll need to kick my ass back into high gear after having a lot of time to reflect on my experiences and my work process, etc.
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions for things I should see while I am gone, please share them below!
I sense big changes are coming. I am not sure what they look like yet, but I believe this is the beginning of a new chapter.
Time to add a few more pins to this map…
